More than 130 alumni at WHU

On Saturday, September 14, more than 130 alumni celebrated their anniversaries together with WHU and the Alumni Association In Praxi e.V. on the Alumni Homecoming on Campus Vallendar. The graduates of the anniversary years 1989, 1994, 1999, 2004, 2009, and 2014 not only enjoyed great summer weather, but also the diverse program after the brunch.

One highlight of the program was the art event of the WHU start-up ArtNight, in which the participants were able to engage in artistic activities in Marienpark. Another part met for the traditional rum tasting with Volker Rapolder of the Koblenz Daddy O´s in the WHU Bistro and was able to learn many interesting things about rum in an entertaining way. Besides, there was a staged Escape Room in the vaulted cellar, from which the participants had to "free themselves" by quickly solving riddles in the team.

During the well-attended campus tours, the alumni visited the many changes at the Vallendar campus since their graduation. During the traditional campus update in the afternoon, Professor Dr. Markus Rudolf, Dean of WHU, reported on the latest developments and the strategic orientation of WHU. He also explained the rankings of the WHU programs and presented WHU's long-term goals.

Another item on the program was the awarding of the three medals of honor to the Foundation's Board members Harry Schmitz (D 1992), Stephan Schubert (D 1994), and Dr. Marco Vietor (D 2004, doctorate 2010). The Diversity Scholarship was presented and the scholarship holders introduced themselves. In the evening, WHU and In Praxi welcomed the alumni to a champagne reception and dinner in the new Vallendar Stadthalle for the first time.

The most strongly represented year was BSc 2014 with 69 alumni. Of the 1989 graduates, who celebrated their 30th anniversary this year, as many as eleven alumni attended the celebrations. The WHU spirit and the feeling of togetherness accompanied this homecoming event throughout the day, and the alumni rounded off the evening with nice conversations.

The next WHU Alumni Homecoming Event of the classes of 1990, 1995, 2000, 2005, 2010, and 2015 will take place on September 19, 2020.
