On February 11, the modernized welcome boards of the city of Vallendar were inaugurated in the presence of Professor Dr. Markus Rudolf and Peter Christ, Dean and Head of Administration of WHU - Otto Beisheim School of Management. Also attending the event were Holger Zaborowski, Dean of the Philosophisch-Theologische Hochschule Vallendar (PTHV), Wolfgang Heitmann, Mayor of the town, Anita Herr, Chairwoman of the traffic association of Vallendar, and Wolfgang Helbach, Chairman of the town twinning Vallendar - Cercy-la-Tour.
The plaques with the inscription "Welcome to the university town of Vallendar" were donated to the town in 2001 by the Vallendar traffic association as a gift and placed at the respective entrances on the south and north end of the town. Over the years, the inscription on the boards had faded considerably. The city coat of arms on the back had already had to be renewed several times, and the graphics of WHU and PTHV had also fallen victim to wind and weather.
WHU paid one third of the costs of modernizing the signs, with the remainder being paid in equal parts by the PTHV and the city of Vallendar. Now, visitors are once again welcomed to Vallendar by the new logo and slogan of the city, which shine in new splendor alongside the coats of arms of the local universities and the French twin city.
