Dr. Barbara Yilmaz received the CSCMP 2016 Doctoral Dissertation Award (DDA) for her work titled “Implementing environmental supply chain management initiatives: A social network perspective.” Founded in 1963, the US-based Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) is the pre-eminent association for individuals involved in supply chain management with over 9,000 members worldwide. Barbara was honored for her work at the 2016 CSCMP Annual Conference in Orlando, Florida. She is the 43rd recipient of this prestigious award since 1973.
With this award, our two alumni Barbara Yilmaz (née Wichmann) and Gavin Meschnig have now received the four most prestigious doctoral dissertation awards in the field of SCM in one year: Barbara was honored with the 2016 CSCMP DDA and the Best Doctoral Dissertation Award 2016 by IPSERA, the International Purchasing and Supply Education and Research Association. Gavin was the recipient of both, the Research Award 2016 of the German Association Materials Management, Purchasing and Logistics (BME) and the Outstanding Doctoral Research Award (ODRA) by the European Foundation for Management Development (efmd) and Emerald for his dissertation "Decision-making in cross-functional teams – A behavioral perspective on supplier selection decisions".
Barbara and Gavin, as PhD candidates in the SCM Group, were supervised by professor Lutz Kaufmann. It is for the first time that all four awards were bestowed upon researchers from the same institution and belonged to the same research team.
