Career Center –

Attract top talent and be part of the global WHU community.

Our services

Recruit at WHU –
Connecting companies with students.

Since the early days, WHU has partnered with companies to create win-win career opportunities for businesses and students. The Career Center fosters these connections and can help you unlock a talent pool of well-educated and high-potential students. Interacting closely with companies across a wide range of sectors, including banking and finance, consulting, industry and services, and start-ups is integral to each student’s journey at WHU.

Our corporate offers vary depending on your target audience – our Vallendar campus is home to Bachelor and Master students just starting their careers, while our MBA students with several years of professional experience are located in Düsseldorf. In both groups, you can engage with an array of qualified and passionate candidates with diverse backgrounds to find and attract those who best fit your talent needs.

Engage with top talent – Increase your visibility through diverse on-campus activities.

We strive to facilitate successful interactions among students, businesses, and alumni by organizing diverse career activities on campus each year. Recruiting on campus provides the individual touch today’s students seek. We have replaced all on-campus activities since March 2020 with interactive online formats which have all been very successful and, although not the same as on-campus events, are an outstanding option for both companies and students.

Last year, more than 60% of Bachelor and more than 80% of Master students did their summer internship at a company that attended a campus event or posted offers to our job database.

Recruiting fairs

Our three annual career fairs give companies a platform to connect with students in the Bachelor, Master, MBA, Doctoral, and Exchange Programs. Since March 2020, we have offered online versions of our career fairs on the virtual recruiting event platform TalentSpace. The platform allows employers to share insights about their organization, use the integrated database to screen potential candidates, and then engage with them during the event via a variety of live video formats.

Career Day at the end of September targets companies that either recruit intermittently at or are new to WHU and want to learn more about our students. Each year we strive to admit a diverse selection of companies across sectors, thereby attracting students from all programs and with broad professional interests. As the first major career event of the academic year, this is an exciting opportunity to create awareness about your company. 2022 participants included Allianz, BASF, Capgemini Invent Germany, Mastercard, METRO, Procter & Gamble, UBS und valantic.

WHU attracts students with an international mindset, so we look for companies that are generally open to providing career opportunities for everyone. Many Bachelor students are looking for internships abroad and some Master students are still learning the German language. To ensure a valuable experience for our various student groups, it is essential that participating companies offer internships for Bachelor and Master students, as well as direct entry positions for candidates with more experience.

Founders Career Day in November invites WHU alumni who have founded their own companies or work in leading positions in companies that fit the entrepreneurial and dynamic atmosphere of the event to “come home” and recruit for their ventures, ranging from brand new start-ups to well-established companies. As part of an energetic two-day event, alumni introduce their ventures in mini-presentations and at the fair, and meet students individually during intense speed dating rounds. You can also arrange interviews on campus with suitable candidates.

If you are an alumnus or alumna of WHU and interested in recruiting high-energy, high-performing Bachelor students or internationally-experienced and well-educated Master, MBA, or Doctoral students, please get in touch. 2022 participants included Alteos, crealytics GmbH, Enpal, Liberty Ventures, Natsana, Patronus Group, ProjectTogether, Tourlane und VictoriaPartners.

Master Your Career at the end of January is reserved for our long-time partner companies, mostly in industry and services. Primarily aimed at Master students, this fair offers more sophisticated networking formats including workshops and a dinner, as well as career speed dating with advanced bachelor students. 2023 attendees were Accenture, adidas, Allianz, BASF, Bertelsmann, Deichmann, Henkel, Kearney and Singular. If you are unsure about your company’s existing cooperation with WHU, please get in touch.

Our newest event format is the 12-2-2 (twelve-to-two) – an ad hoc mini-fair during lunchtime. Two to four companies briefly present about their operations and corporate culture, and afterwards can interact with students in a more intimate and relaxed environment.

WHU students have extremely tight schedules with intense study and exam periods and a multitude of student-organized conferences. Therefore, we can only offer a limited number of Career Center events on campus. Once we have a sufficient number of interested companies and an available time slot, we can organize the next 12-2-2 event. If you are interested in participating, please contact us.

For our long-time partners, we also organize company presentations, workshops, and interview days, subject to time availability. These programs give students an in-depth understanding of your company’s culture and operations, information about the recruiting process and specific openings, as well as the opportunity to demonstrate their skills. If you are unsure about your company’s existing cooperation with WHU, please get in touch.

Our internship and job database is an excellent way to attract accomplished, high-performing students. Upload your offer free of charge – we publish postings that match students’ interests and availability to our internal database and send them to students via a weekly newsletter. If you successfully recruit a student through your advertisement, we kindly request a donation to WHU’s sponsorship fund, which you can arrange by contacting us.

In accordance with WHU’s academic calendar, students are generally available for internships between May and August. They are mostly seeking internships of 10-12 weeks across all business areas, including management consulting, banking and finance, strategy and business development, operations and supply chain, controlling, entrepreneurship, sales and marketing, and more. Bachelor students must complete one of their internships outside of the German-speaking region, so they are always interested in international opportunities.

Alumni are a key part of our tight-knit community, so we cooperate closely with the In Praxi alumni association to foster deeper relationships among companies, graduates, and current students. In Praxi has more than 4,500 members across 65-plus countries.

If you are looking for experienced candidates, you can publish job offers through In Praxi’s database. In Praxi reserves the right to publish only job offers with a minimum annual salary of €70,000 and charges a commission fee if a job advertisement successfully leads to an In Praxi member’s hiring. Please contact In Praxi for further details.

If you are unsure whether a specific job offer is more suitable for alumni or MBA graduates, please contact us.

Executives, senior managers, junior employees—including many WHU alumni—as well as HR managers visit our campus to meet and recruit WHU students. They share their insights into the corporate culture, operations, and hiring processes. Workshops and informal get-togethers following the presentations give the students a chance to connect with the company representatives and learn more about your organization as well as potential post MBA career opportunities. You also have the opportunity to invite our students to your office in order for them to experience your company culture first hand.

Selection of company presentations and workshops in 2022-23:

Adidas, Allianz, Amazon, Bayer Business Consulting, BCG Platinion, BMW Group, DHL Consulting, E.ON In-House Consulting, EY Parthenon, HelloFresh, Henkel, Infosys, Monitor Deloitte, Picnic, PwC Management Consulting, Trivago, Vodafone, Wayfair and Zalando.

We organize this event annually to create a highly interactive, virtual, and in-person experience through a wide range of activities, including company presentations, career booths, CV Clinics, workshops, speed networking, and more. This event is open not only to all current MBA students but also to our MBA Alumni.

As many of our students would like to go into Consulting, we offer specific events catering to this need. Whether you are a top-notch, boutique or in-house consultancy, we have the right format for you.

Would you like to post a job? Please follow this link.

Our weekly newsletter, which is tailored specifically to MBA students, informs the students on the latest job offerings in our WHU-internal job and internship database, where you can post numerous internships and jobs each year.

Every MBA student can create a profile on our student CV database. Partner companies access this database to find interesting profiles and invite students to recruiting events on and off campus, for personal interviews, or as candidates for specific job opportunities.

Our students can write their thesis project in cooperation with your company. They can help you tackle real-life challenges for your company, providing ideas, analysis, and recommendations.

Thesis projects are typically completed within a timeframe of 3 – max. 4 months between April – June/July or from August – October/November and can be done by a single MBA student or a group of a maximum of three.

Alumni are a key part of our tight-knit community, so we cooperate closely with the In Praxi alumni association to foster deeper relationships among companies, graduates, and current students.
