Teaching at the Center of Asset and Wealth Management –

A new level of teaching with practical relevance.

An elementary part of the CAWM activities is the education of WHU students and the transfer of scientific knowledge into the practice of asset and wealth management. In this regards, the WHU Finance Lab allows a new level of financial education and creates a previously unattained practical relevance.

The CAWM offers a range of courses in various WHU programs. For practitioners, the Executive Education Program WHU on Finance was launched in 2014, in which a flexible series of seminars deals with the basics and current issues of finance. A large part of the topics for the training is summarized in the book "Private Banking", produced by members of the CAWM, which was published in its second edition in 2011.

WHU Finance Lab –
A link between theory and practice.

Since the beginning of 2019, the WHU Finance Lab has opened its doors to students and visitors. With 12 Eikon terminals from Refinitiv (formerly Thomson Reuters), 12 Tradesignal platforms and 500 ByteWorx licenses, the WHU Finance Lab offers ideal conditions for financial education and a link between theory and practice.

Students have access to extensive market and securities databases as well as the opportunity to choose between several state-of-the-art real-time trading simulation systems and powerful charting tools to evaluate, analyze, and visualize their own portfolio performance.

The WHU Finance Lab already is a major element in WHU's curriculum. For instance, the course "Trading and Real-Time Data Interpretation" (Assistant Professor Dr. Sebastian Seidens), which offers students an introduction to technical analysis, is being held in full in the WHU Finance Lab. Furthermore, guided tours, educational seminars, and stock market games are held at the WHU Finance Lab at regular intervals. In the future, it is planned to expand the spectrum of lectures held in the WHU Finance Lab beyond classical Finance / Capital Markets.

If you are interested in an introduction to the many possible uses of the WHU Finance Lab, students and visitors are welcome to contact us at cawm(at)whu.edu or one of our contact persons directly.
