DM 10 bill, showing Carl Fridrich Gauss and the Normal distribution

The 10 Deutsche Mark bill above pictures the German mathematician Carl Friedrich Gauss (born 1777 in Brunswick, Germany) together with the standard normal density, which was first formulated by Gauss. His further contributions to statistics include (amongst other things) the least squares estimation method – the core of contemporary econometrics.
