#1 in Europe: The IMC doctoral program

For the second year in a row, the doctoral program at the Institute of Management Accounting and Control (IMC) of WHU - Otto Beisheim School of Management has been ranked No. 1 in Europe in the area of management accounting. Worldwide, the Institute has even improved to No. 7. In the category of research methods used at the Institute (survey, field studies …), the IMC once again shares second place with Michigan State University behind the University of Southern California.

Utz Schäffer, Director of the IMC, is delighted: “The ranking results show that we are right on track in our doctoral program. We work hard to contribute to leading international research and achieve practice impact at the same time. Being No. 1 in Europe and No. 7 worldwide makes us extremely proud.”

The annual ranking, produced by Scott L. Summers and David A. Wood of Brigham Young University, relates to the number of peer-reviewed articles published in 12 of the world's most prestigious accounting journals in a 6-year post-graduation window. The quality of each PhD program is measured in terms of how often its graduates published in one of the selected journals during this period.
