Barbara E. Weißenberger, professor at Justus Liebig University Giessen and former assistant professor at the IMC, has been elected president of the German Academic Association for Business Research (Verband der Hochschullehrer für Betriebswirtschaft, VHB). The delegates voted her into office during the 76th Annual Meeting of the VHB which took place from June 11th to 13th in Leipzig. Professor Weißenberger will take office on January 1st, 2015 and has been elected for a term of two years.
After graduating at WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management in 1992, Professor Weißenberger worked as research associate (1992-1996) and assistant professor (1996-2002) at the IMC. She has been full professor at the Chair of Controlling and Business Accounting, Justus Liebig University of Giessen, since 2002 and holds a number of positions in boards and committees. Professor Weißenberger has been active in the VHB since 2009, serving as chairperson of the accounting section from 2011-2012 and vice chairperson in 2013 and 2014.
The VHB is the German Academic Association for Business Research and pursues the development of business administration as an academic discipline at universities. Its main objective is to foster research and education in business administration, as well as providing a platform for discussion. Professor Weißenberger will chair the next annual meetings of the VHB, traditionally called "Pfingsttagung", at WU Wien (2015) and TU München (2016).
