Financing

Invest in your future –
We help you find ways to finance your studies.

We think our international Bachelor Program is a great investment, which is why we do everything possible to make our it accessible to all. Financial concerns are definitely not part of our admission criteria.

A number of financing options are in place at WHU to ensure that you can focus on your future without worrying about your finances.

Have a look at our financing options below:

For 15% of our German students, scholarships are available. These are allocated based on the German Federal Education and Training Assistance Act (Bundesausbildungsförderungsgesetz - BAföG).

To apply, make a claim to BAföG based on your household income and assets. A BAföG certificate will then verify your information.

The BAföG application must be submitted to WHU, who will then forward it on to the responsible BAföG authority. Usually, the final BAföG assessment will be available at the end of November. If you are eligible for the scholarship, a claim of the tuition fee will follow.

If you’re a German student with a considerable income and assets of up to €7,670 above the BaföG limit per year, you will be eligible for a reduced tuition fee.

We have a fixed sum available for students on a reduced fee, and therefore the amount of the reduction is based on the number of eligible students. The application process for a reduced tuition fee is the same as the application process of scholarships.

Applying for a scholarship or reduced tuition fee has no impact on the selection or admission process. This information is not passed on to the examination board. Should the number of recommended scholarships be higher than the amount available, the admission ranking from the final admission test will determine successful recipients. If this happens, the remaining scholarship applicants are offered a reduced tuition fee.

Within the scope of the national scholarship program, WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management awards especially talented, high-performing students with scholarships. Comprehensive information regarding the Deutschlandstipendium can be found here.

WHU has arranged low-interest loan schemes with Sparkasse Koblenz for German-speaking WHU students. All the bank requires is the study contract. If you’re a German-speaking international student, this loan is available to those who can provide a loan guarantee from Germany.

Through the innovative Generation Contract, Brain Capital GmbH provides you with a flexible payment option to fit in with your lifestyle after graduation. As an income-dependent repayment model, you only start repaying once you’re earning a specified minimum salary. Interested in graduate studies? A business start-up? That’s fine, repayment will be postponed.

Over the course of 10 years, you will pay back the money used to study, and then it’s done. A maximum repayment limit will be agreed upon signing the Generation Contract.

The Generation Contract even extends to supporting you in your living expenses, with an amount up to €600 per month. Participants of the Generation Contract can also access career mentoring provided exclusively by Brain Capital GmbH, supporting you in reaching your career goals.

Applicants from the European Union, the United States, and Canada may receive up to 100% funding of tuition fees and living expenses (up for €600 per month). Applicants from other countries may receive up to 66% funding of tuition fees.

Every fifth foundation is not able to find suitable scholarship students, as the fewest students apply for scholarships. Of the few students, who care for support, 92% apply only at 0.8% of all foundations.

Hence a variety of databases exist, comparing applicant profiles with available scholarships, as for example:
