Take the next step –
Apply now to pursue research at WHU.
We are delighted to receive applications to our Doctoral Program from academically excellent and highly motivated German and international students interested in pursuing research in one of our fields of study.
The admission requirements for the Doctoral Program include a Master’s degree or equivalent, with an above-average overall grade. You will find more information on the admission requirements in the Doctoral Program Regulations.
Enrollment is also conditional on a professor of our WHU faculty supporting the doctoral project. Please contact the relevant Chair regarding your research project, or apply for position as a research assistant if advertised.
As soon as you have received written confirmation of support from the chair office, you should submit your application for enrollment, together with the following documents, to the Doctoral Program Office:
- the professor’s declaration of acceptance
- an up-to-date resumé
- a single copy of your Abitur certificate (or equivalent, e.g. high-school diploma)
- certified true copies of your university qualifications
- a passport photograph in electronic format
Students may be admitted to the Doctoral Program – in consultation with the advisor – at any time. There are no fixed start dates.
Doctoral candidates can enroll in the Doctoral Program either as internal or external students. Internal doctoral students are those who are also employed at WHU as a research assistant for at least three-eighths of a full-time position. External doctoral students are students not employed at WHU, or who are employed as a research assistant for less than three-eighths of a full-time position.
