  • This German elementary course seeks to develop listening, reading, and writing skills and strongly emphasizes communication. Communication will be stressed all times and developed through classroom activities and small group activities such as role-plays, informal discussions, dialogues etc.
  • The course introduces students to the intermediate grammar structures of the language and provides them with intermediate vocabulary.
  • Topics of everyday life in Germany as well as diverse aspects of the German culture will be covered.
  • Grammar topics: passive present tense, past tense (Präteritum), temporal and local prepositions, verbs with prepositions, indirect questions, conjunctions (als, bis, seit/seitdem), modal verbs, relative pronouns and relative clauses, word formation

The Final Grade will be based on

 

  • 50 % Final Exam
  • 20 % one assigment during the semester
  • 20 % oral presentation
  • 10 % homework and participation in class
