WHU Master’s Program Claims Top Spot in Germany

In the latest head-to-head between business schools from all over the world, WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management has once again joined the top of the pack. In the latest edition of the renowned Financial Times (FT) Masters in Management Ranking, WHU, with locations in Vallendar and Düsseldorf, has reached #1 (#2 in 2022) among all participating German universities and #13 (#14 in 2022) worldwide. “We are very proud of these remarkable results, as they show that, with this program, we have been able to position WHU on both the national and the international stage,” said Professor Christian Andres, Dean of WHU. “That we’re leading the way at home in Germany is a clear sign that our Master in Management has established itself as an excellent program.”

WHU performed particularly well in several categories, including “aims achieved” (#8 worldwide), “alumni network” (#6 worldwide) and “career services” (#6 worldwide). For the first category, the FT looks at the school’s alumni and how successful they have been in achieving the goals set out at the start of their academic program. The second sees graduates evaluate how helpful the school’s alumni network has been when it comes to career opportunities. And for the third, the FT looked at the work of the school’s Career Center and how it affects student satisfaction. In fact, WHU’s students have noted high levels of satisfaction with the school’s Master in Management Program and with the university as a whole—which has led to an impressive overall satisfaction score of 9.53 out of 10 points (or, #6 worldwide). And alumni also hold the school in high regard in several career- and satisfaction-relevant categories.

Since last year, the school has made significant progress in the areas of student diversity and internationalization criteria. With these efforts, WHU has leapt ahead in several relevant categories, including “female students” (#13 worldwide; #86 in 2022), “international course experience” (#28 worldwide; #53 in 2022), and “international students” (#54 worldwide; #68 in 2022). WHU has also performed very well in the newly added categories “ESG and net zero teaching rank” (#30 worldwide) and “carbon footprint rank” (#31 worldwide), with the school in the upper tiers of the ranking.

The 2023 Financial Times Masters in Management Ranking evaluates some one hundred programs worldwide. Outside of WHU, the German schools ranked include ESMT Berlin (#20 worldwide; #10 in 2022), Mannheim Business School (#21 worldwide; #24 in 2022), HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management (#34 worldwide, #19 in 2022), Frankfurt School of Finance (#37 worldwide; #38 in 2022), and EBS Business School (#58 worldwide), the latter of which having participated in the ranking for the first time.
