FTMBA 2021_II Workshop Leading Virtually
Workshop Content
The fundamental objective of this workshop on Leading Virtually is to enhance your ability to effectively lead virtual teams, create trust and followership and to get high performance without the need for physical proximity.
For many, working from home, and communicating through digital mediums like MS Teams, Zoom, and WebEx, are nothing new. Many business models have supported virtual work for years as a necessity to accommodate employees and clients in various locations. Does this experience make us already effective as virtual leaders? While technology has improved our ability to get work done and communicate remotely, we have not yet been forced to develop a set of best practices for leading remote teams at the capacity that has been brought on by the recent Corona crisis. So, what do we learn from this unique experience?
This workshop will use the practical insights gained during the Corona pandemic over the past months and also some more longstanding research on the success factors of virtual teams.
During this interactive workshop, we will discuss the following questions:
- Leading in a virtual vs. a physical world: What is similar? What is different?
- What are Do’s and Don’ts of virtual leadership?
- How can you create a positive atmosphere and high performance virtually?
- How can you organize the work productively?
- How does trust work in a virtual world?
- What are other critical success factors?
We will simulate challenging leadership situations in virtual teams and debrief them together to maximize your insights and learning. To ensure sufficient interactivity during the workshop, access will be limited to30 students.
In preparation for the workshop, you will have the possibility to assess your own level of leadership skills in a virtual setting according to different dimensions in aLeading Virtually Self-Assessment.
