Course content
Operations management is about designing, managing, and improving the activities involvedin creating products and services and delivering them to customers. This set of activities iscalled the operating system. An operating process is the basic building block of any operatingsystem. Every organization organizes its work through operating processes. In this course, westrive to thoroughly characterize operating processes in terms of “how is this process doing”and “how can the process be improved.” To this end, we shall deal with process analysis,capacity management, forecasting, queueing models, scheduling and quality management. Wewill develop spreadsheet models that support decision making.

Exam
There will be three in-class case studies that will make up 50% of your final grade. Work within the pre-assigned teams on the assignments.
The final exam is a take home exam and will involve qualitative and quantitative questions related to a case study. The basis for the exam will be the set of slides and exercises / cases andreadings. The final exam will make up 50% of the grade.
