Course content

Learning outcomes
Upon completing the course Statistics I students will have a basic understanding about the first steps of data analysis. This involves three components. First, students will know how to describe raw data, both numerically and graphically. Second, students have a basic understanding of probabilities and will be able to apply this both theoretically and in practice. Third, students will be able to describe and analyze random variables and their distributions.

Learningmethods
In class we cover the basic ideas and theories. To this end, we will use both many examples and some theoretical and formal reasoning. Moreover, assignments and problem sets will be provided for further application and study.
